Botox® at Clinic 22, Saltcoats
Nurse-Led Clinic | Medically Regulated | Personalised Care
As we age, repetitive muscle movement contributes to the formation of fine lines and wrinkles. Botox® injections, using botulinum toxin, are prescribed to temporarily reduce targeted muscle activity and soften visible lines. At Clinic 22 in Saltcoats, treatment is approached with precision to maintain natural facial balance while refining areas such as crow’s feet, frown lines, and forehead lines.
In addition to aesthetic use, Botox® is also applied in the management of functional concerns. These may include gummy smile, hyperhidrosis, headaches, and teeth clenching or grinding. Each application is considered within a clinical framework, ensuring appropriate use based on your needs and medical suitability.
When administered correctly, Botox® is safe and effective. At Clinic 22, it is used conservatively to achieve subtle, balanced results, supporting a refreshed and composed appearance without altering natural expression. Book a consultation to discuss your requirements in a clinical setting.

Botox® FAQs
Botulinum toxin (commonly known as Botox®) is a prescription-only medicine with a well-established safety profile when administered correctly. It has been used in medical and aesthetic practice for several decades, supported by extensive clinical research and published data.
In aesthetic treatments, small, controlled doses are placed into targeted muscles. Treatment is carried out following a clinical assessment to ensure suitability and appropriate use.
Botox® may be delayed or declined following assessment of suitability for treatment. Common reasons include pregnancy or breastfeeding, certain neuromuscular conditions, an active skin infection in the treatment area, or recent facial procedures that require further healing time.
In some cases, treatment may also not be suitable if the expected outcome is unlikely to meet patient expectations, or if facial anatomy indicates that an alternative approach would be more appropriate. Each decision is made with careful consideration of safety, suitability, and likely results.
Botox® is used to treat both aesthetic and functional concerns by temporarily reducing targeted muscle activity. Common aesthetic areas include forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet, where repeated movement contributes to the formation of fine lines over time.
In addition to these areas, Botox® can also be used for concerns such as a gummy smile, excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), headaches, and teeth clenching or grinding. Each treatment is prescribed based on clinical assessment and individual suitability.
At Clinic 22, Botox® is administered with precision to maintain natural facial movement while softening visible lines and addressing specific concerns in a controlled, medically regulated setting.
As with any injectable treatment, there are potential risks and side effects. The most commonly observed effects are mild redness, swelling, or sensitivity at the injection site, which typically resolve within a short period.
Some patients may also experience temporary bruising or mild headache following treatment. Less commonly, results may vary depending on individual response and muscle activity.
All potential risks and aftercare advice are discussed during your consultation at Clinic 22, ensuring treatment is carried out safely and appropriately.
The effects of Botox® typically last between 12 and 16 weeks, although this can vary depending on muscle activity, metabolism, and lifestyle factors.
Results gradually develop over the first two weeks, with peak effect usually seen at around 14 days. Movement is slightly reduced during this time and gradually returns as the effects wear off.
With regular treatments, some patients may notice longer-lasting results as muscle activity becomes reduced over time.
There is no fixed age to begin treatment, as this varies between individuals. In clinical practice, some patients develop visible lines earlier due to stronger muscle activity, while others maintain smoother skin later into adulthood.
The decision to treat is based on factors such as muscle strength, the depth of lines, and how they present at rest and during expression. Treatment is considered only where it is appropriate and in keeping with natural facial balance.
Not all lines require treatment, and in some cases features such as crow’s feet may be left untreated to preserve natural character and expression.
There is no required downtime following treatment, and most patients are able to continue with normal daily activities shortly afterwards.
You may be advised to avoid applying make-up for approximately four hours after treatment to reduce the risk of irritation or contamination at the injection sites. Strenuous exercise, alcohol, and excessive heat should be avoided for 24 hours to allow the product to settle appropriately.
Any aftercare guidance will be explained in full during your appointment to support a safe and consistent outcome.
The main difference between Botox® and dermal fillers is that Botox® softens expression lines, whereas dermal fillers are used to restore lost volume and support facial contours.
Botox® works by temporarily reducing muscle activity, making it most suitable for dynamic lines such as forehead lines and crow’s feet.
Dermal fillers, typically formulated with hyaluronic acid, are used to enhance areas such as the cheeks, lips, and deeper folds.
Both treatments are often combined within a personalised, medically guided treatment plan.
Yes — Botox® is often combined with other treatments as part of a personalised, medically guided plan to achieve balanced, natural-looking results.
While Botox® works by temporarily reducing muscle activity to soften expression lines, other treatments can address concerns such as volume loss, skin quality, hydration, and overall texture. Depending on your goals, Botox® may be combined with dermal fillers, polynucleotides, Redensity skin boosters, SkinPen microneedling, or as part of a broader full-face rejuvenation approach.
“Baby Botox®” refers to the use of smaller doses of Botulinum toxin. In practice, dosing should always be guided by individual muscle activity, treatment area, and the outcome required, rather than a fixed label.
At Clinic 22, all treatments are tailored to the individual. The amount used is carefully determined following assessment, ensuring a precise and appropriate approach for each patient.
For this reason, “Baby Botox®” is not offered as a separate treatment. A personalised plan is always used to achieve natural-looking results.

Over the moon with my results. I booked a consultation at Clinic22 because I wanted honest advice rather than guessing myself and ending up with the wrong treatment. I got a clear plan for me, which made the whole process feel really straightforward. I was a bit nervous booking in for filler as it was my first time, but Rhianna was amazing. She made me feel completely at ease and I genuinely felt like I was in safe hands the whole time. I love the results — I look fresher and less tired, exactly what I was hoping for. I am very particular about my skin due to having had severe acne most of my life. I don't like the idea of a one size fits all approach because my skin has never been the type that reacts well to this and I am often left feeling disappointed. I wanted to explore my options but was nervous about where to go and what treatments to have as it is a very personal experience having your skin and all it's flaws scrutinised. However the moment I walked in the doors of Clinic 22 and sat down with Nastassia I knew I had picked the right fit for me. She was very patient and listened to my concerns. She is very knowledgeable and I honestly feel so safe and looked after in her care. We made up a treatment plan together and I joined the Clinic 22 Skin Club which has been fantastic value. I've had a few sessions now with her and I can see a noticeable change in my skin and she is always hyping me up about how good it is looking. I am so grateful to have found the clinic and I would recommend it to everyone who is looking to explore options of any kind. Thank you for helping me find confidence in my own skin again.Posted on Sasha KerrTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Another great visit with Nurse Rhi!
