Lip fillers is one of the most popular treatments for women of all ages however we understand it can also be one of the most nerve racking treatments to consider. Unfortunately we have all seen the pictures of overfilled, poorly injected duck lips that has saturated social media. Lip filler treatment is a great solution for anyone with naturally thin lips, uneven lips or to replace volume loss that occurs as we age. Results are instant, treatment is comfortable and there is minimum downtime.

Treatment FAQs

A common misconception is that lip filler is just for people who want big pouty lips. Lip filler when used correctly can really enhance your natural beauty or restore aged lips. It can be used to naturally increase volume, soften smokers lines, correct uneven lips and define your lips to give you a sharper cupids bow and more defined lip line. The possibilities are endless when it comes to lip fillers, at clinic 22 once we establish your goals we will be able to advice exactly how lip filler can help or advise if there are better alternative treatments for you.

Lips can be one of the most sensitive areas of our face, at Clinic 22 we apply numbing cream before your procedure and use the latest techniques to make it as comfortable as possible. Our patients and our practitioners describe it as a little scratchy but bearable. If you are particularly nervous about pain mention this to us before your treatment, we will be able to reassure you.

Lip fillers aren’t permanent, they gradually break down over time. As a general rule of thumb lip fillers tend to last around 12 months. Over the years we have seen this can vary massively depending on different factors like what product is used (At Clinic 22 we only use premium products that tend to last longer), your metabolism and the layer your filler is injected into. Filler can also breakdown quicker the more you move your mouth so for the talkers and kissers out there you may require more frequent touch ups.

This varies from person to person, your lips are like your finger prints, no two pairs of lips are the same. It depends on what sort of lip volume/concerns you have and what you are looking to achieve. If you are starting with a particularly thin lip or a tricky shaped lip we may suggest building your treatment up gradually over a few appointments. Adding too much filler at once can lead to unnatural looking misshaped lips. At Clinic 22 we carry out a full assessment before every treatment and will be able to advise you best as to what volume will work for you. We always say it is easier to add filler in than it is to take it away.

Yes with any injectable treatment there are side effects, at Clinic 22 our priority is to make sure you are fully informed of any risks and to make sure you have the safest treatment possible reducing any possible side effects. The most common side effects people experience are swelling and bruising theses tend to subside over a few days. There are more serious risks like blood  vessels being blocked by the filler that fortunately are rare, these will be discussed with you at your appointment. At Clinic 22 all our injectors have extensive training in managing complications, you can be assured if you suffered any complications you are in the safest possible hands.

Yes, we will fully assess your current lips and lip filler at your appointment and make a treatment plan for you. If there are any issues for example, lumps of old filler, filler migration (the filler has moved into an area we don’t want it) or you have to much filler we may suggest dissolving your old filler treatment before re treating.

As we age collagen production decreases and the skin becomes thinner and less elastic. This often leads to our lips looking deflated and dehydrated. Lip filler works by attracting water to the area leading to fuller more hydrated looking lips. We also recommend using our aftercare treatment which will also help hydrate the lips from the outside in.
